Madonna

I am a huge fan of Madge, as her friends and beloved call her. I remember listening to True Blue while I still couldn't understand a single word from the lyrics but my first LP was Like A Prayer, so everything goes back to 1989...
By that time I watched Blond Ambition Tour on RTP2 together with my Mother and then began our partnership concerning Her Madgesty ;) She explained me the lyrics, as she loved the songs but criticized some of the "body language" ;) Believe me, it was a step beyond in our mother-daughter relationship because controversial themes such as sexuality and Catholicism inevitably came up! The Pope had called for a boycott of the show in Rome, but Madonna didn't give up and performed Like a Virgin and Like a Prayer in a row as planned ;)
Her motto had become some rules are made to be broken and WOMEN are strong enough to do that!!! That definitely rang a bell to me... And the show achieved a measure of cult status, with elements, as the conical bra, by Jean-Paul Gaulthier, and ponytail hair extensions becoming cultural icons.
Last Sunday, February 5th, she showed the world AGAIN what she knows best and performed some of her main hits in the American Super Bowl Half Time. For those who don't really know Madonna's work, try to watch the video...
She has been in Lisbon in 2004 with her incredible Re-Invention Tour but even though I attended the gig, the moment was shadowed by a forced trip to Mogadouro, far away in the North of the country, the very next day, in one of my hardest school years ever...
This year Madge is coming back... and I refuse to say nothing will stop me from going to Coimbra and enjoying it to the fullest, because it has already happened once! However, I hope to "express myself" on June 24th ;) Let's wait and see...

  1. I was also drafting something about Madonna and the Super Bowl... And then I saw your post... Well, I shall write and post it anyway because it's slightly different from yours!...
I am a Madonna's fan, as well, even though not her number one fan!... Yet, she's fantastic and being 53 with that powerful stamina... Only special people achieve that!... Madonna is pure energy and that is not fake despite the photoshoped pictures or some improvements with plastic surgeries...
God save the Queen, God save Madonna!... ;)))

  3. I wouldn't mind, either!... What about having a "girls' conversation" with Her Majesty and ask her the recipe for 'to be forever young'?
